El Mesón de la Costa
Torrevieja, Alicante
A bustling "Spanish Restaurant" one block behind the main beach boardwalk, we're greeted as we enter the restaurant with a dazzling display of local produce, iced fish from the Mediterranean and afar, a well stocked aqurium with languste and lobsters, dry aged hung beef on the bone, the daily specials and ceiling covered with para negra hams.
Good and friendly service througout the evening in a relaxed and professional run restaurant.
The food we had was great, well presented an array of tapas followed by grill your own at the table sliced hung sirloin steak, house cava and house red were really good too bad I was the driver this was followed by coffee in the wine cellar. the whole expirience was a big change from the surounding array of tourist joints up and down the Costa Blanca

The carving station for the para negra |
Pata Negra hams hung from the celing throughout the whole restaurant |
pata negra ham, "sliced correctly, I've been to the course" was one of the tapas |
Garlic prawns, piping hot eat them with your fingers |
The the beef was just sliced, we all got to sear off a pimento de pequillo and finish off our beef as desired on red hot steak sizzlers, |
The cellar was full of old gems from Spain's liquid past some going back 30-40 years |
Someones pride and joy, the wine cellar, many many hours of organisation are on show in the two floored cellar. |
